A social evening was held in Delaney’s pub last Friday 28th July to honour Moira Delaney, who stepped down earlier this year from her role as Director of Music in the parish after thirty years of sterling service to music ministry. On May 20th last, Moira was presented with a “Bene Merenti Medal” by Archbishop Francis Duffy – this is an award granted by the Pope to people who have made an outstanding contribution to the life of the Church. Members of the various choirs, soloists, family members, and all who are involved in music in the parish and beyond gathered to honour Moira on Friday night. Special thanks to Londis and Breege Kenny for providing the food, and to the singers and musicians who took part in the singsong. The Abbey Male Choir and Parish Choir made a special presentation to Moira at the event.
