The pupils of 4th class from Scoil Íosa Primary School Ballyhaunis, accompanied by their teachers Caroline Campbell, Matt Cummins, Niamh Connolly, Norma Prendergast and SNA Marina Coyne, and under the guidance of members of Ballyhaunis Tidy Towns Committee members Kay Curley, Sean Freyne & Tommy Caulfield, planted bluebells in the grounds of St Patrick’s Church earlier this week. This is part of the Ballyhaunis Biodiversity Plan that was launched some weeks ago. The pupils heard how the bluebell and the dandelion are among the earliest sources of nectar and food for bees at this time of year, and that the bluebell is a plant that is native to Ireland.
